Hajera Memon
Hajera is a former finance lawyer turned creative publisher and entrepreneur. She set up Shade 7 in 2012 and was the first novelty book publisher bringing uniquely aesthetic, engaging, and high-quality Islamic novelty books to Muslim children around the world. Her vision was to help parents raise children with love and attachment to their faith and identity.
Her first title, a pop-up book telling the story of “Surah Al-Feel, the Story of The Elephant” from the Qur’an, has been stocked in Harrods and Selfridges in London, as well as in malls from Makkah to Malaysia, and of course Daybreak Press!
Her books include a colour changing “Wudu Bath Book”, “Hats of Faith” an interfaith board book about head coverings worn by people of faith, a fold-out and lift-the-flap book on “Islamic Months” and her newest award-winning title “Phases of the Moon” a sparkly tie-back book which glows in the dark!
Her dream is for every Muslim child to one day have a copy of a Shade 7 book InshaAllah!
She is now expanding to offer a bespoke publishing and production service so other Muslim authors can bring their dream books to more children around the world too!
Farhat Khan
Farhat has over 25 years of experience in print and production management. She’s produced and managed thousands of novelty titles including, pop-ups, board books and lift-the-flaps, as well as intricately illustrated books, and many other beautifully creative titles for both adults and children. She is passionate about making literature an engaging experience filled with delightful memories to be shared by parents and children alike.
With her technical expertise and expansive knowledge of the print industry, she is able to provide high quality print solutions with a keen eye for innovation and detail.
Farhat has the ability to negotiate the best industry prices, with a focus on premium quality using sustainable materials. She can offer sound advice on the complex safety testing requirements involved and can give you the benefit of an extensive network of production experts . She is incredibly passionate and excited to help you create an outstanding book!
