Glow Tip:
Glow-in-the-dark needs charging!
Once you have your Phases of The Moon book, be sure to leave it open on the last page so it can charge a little to ensure you get the brightest glow at bed time!
For best results, we recommend using a torch, or you can simply place the page under a lamp for a few minutes. Sunshine and day light will also work for those of you in sunnier climates!
How does glow-in-the-dark actually work?
The Science Behind Glow
Glow-in-the-dark materials contain a substance called phosphor which is a luminescent material that emits light when it is exposed to radiation such as ultraviolet light or an electronic beam.
You have to charge the phosphors in your glow-in-the-dark book, stars, stickers or other items you might have so that they can soak up energy. They will then absorb the light so they can re-emit it later when it is dark!
Glow Charging Times
You shouldn’t need long to charge up your page in the book. We recommend either a few minutes under a torch or lamp, or even 10 minutes of direct sunlight.
Green Glow
Did you know the human eye is most sensitive to green light and so the green colour appears brighter!
Natures’ Glow
Did you know Allah (swt) has also created certain creatures with this luminescence? Creatures like fireflies, anglerfish and many species of jellyfish naturally glow-in-the-dark! What a fascinating world, SubhanAllah!
